Just finished the synopsis and first chapter of the second book, called Fairy Wars: Spies Among Us, and all I’m going to say is that the narrator is not entirely human, and contrary to the start of most second books, there’s a twist right at the beginning. It’s really fun to speak in the voice of another character besides Calen, who was the narrator for the first book.

Book is In Print
Just to let ya’ll know that the first book of the trilogy “Fairy Wars: The Dark Ones” is now available in print on Amazon.com and through their European distributors.
Greetings! About the Second Book
Hi, readers,
I’m Laurie, and I’ve been writing for about 40 years, although I didn’t get published until my senior year in college. I went back to school in middle age and finished my bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Boise State University (Go, Broncos!) and my PhD at University of Nevada, Reno in 2003 in rhetoric/composition. I taught through my graduate programs and have been teaching at University of Phoenix, Idaho campus for 10 years now. I’m excited to announce my first published novel.
After 5 years and hundreds of hours of sweat, research and tears, my fantasy book, Fairy Wars (italics), has just been released. I’m working on the second book right now (Fairy Wars: Spies Among Us) where Calen will encounter more “darkness” and evil but will also get more support from unexpected sources. Treachery and twists will be the themes of this book, which will culminate in Book Three – The Final Battles.
I had several Beta readers read my early drafts and ask, “Did all of this come out of your head?” Yes, to the point where I was actually dreaming about my characters and situations at night. It was fun to feel like I lived in Calen’s world for a period of time, and I’m anxious to get going further on the second novel and enter that world again.
As my grandchildren tell me, I’m just a big kid who never grew up, so to live with the fairies for a while makes surviving in our currently chaotic 21st century society easier for me to tolerate. I love to play, and writing in a fantasy world is just that, although working with words is never easy, even with a PhD in composition.
